My Old Gastrolux is starting to stick

Posting date: 10th February 2009 15:31

Hi

I have bought 2 gastrolux pans from you which I am delighted with , I also own a gastrolux frypan purchased from a company that no longer carries them, the frying pan is far less non stick than when it was new and can stick quite badly in one place , it is not scratched and has only ever been used with wooden or silicon utensils, I have also always followed the care guidelines & removed burnt food immediately. Any ideas for rehabilating it & improving it's non stick performance would be greatly appreciated, it is approx three years old. Hope you can help , thanks Donald

Hi Donald

I double checked with the UK importer to see what their advise was. Their view is that you may still have ingrained burnt in material in the pan surface and it is worth trying to reprove or season the base of the pan.

You need to use a green scourer (not a metal one, but the abrasive plastic ones - usually the reverse side of the yellow sponge) and some good hot, soapy water. Clean the base of the pan as thoroughly as you can. Rub a thin layer of oil into the base and then heat the pan over a moderate heat and remove with the oil begins to smoke. Then allow the pan to cool completely. Wipe off any excess oil. Repeat the oiling and heating procedure.

This should help!

Best wishes Claire
