Ferromagnetic Cookware

Q Could you advise me on which is the best ferromagnetic cookware to use on my hob?
A Ferromagnetic cookware is another name for induction cookware. Other than on cast iron cookware which is inherently magnetic, pan ranges tend to add a ferromagnetic layer to the base of their pans so that they can activite an induction hob.
First, I would check the instructions with your induction cooker as to the width of pan you need to activate the hotplates. The magnetic sensors are placed at different points on the hotplate by different manufacturers so it is a good idea to read what they say. Basic rule of thumb is included the following blog entry earlier this month:
In terms of the best induction cookware, all our ranges are good. We have just introduced the only induction copper cookware that we know by de Buyer but before buying, you need to decide what kind of cookware or cooking you like to use, aside from the issue of which hobs the pans will work on. Copper pans heat up very quickly but need a good cook to ensure that they are used to best effective.
A good general induction cookware range is Swiss Diamond Induction Cookware (the induction pans are listed as part of the main brand). But Woll Induction cookware and SKK Induction cookware are also very good - probably more non stick than Swiss Diamond but you have to look after the cooking surface with more care. You really can use metal utensils with a Swiss Diamond pan and the pan surface won't get damaged.
