Swiss Diamond Induction Cookware Costs
Posting date: 5th November 2010 10:59
Q Why is Swiss Diamond Induction Cookware more expensive than the standard Swiss Diamond cookware? Is it because they are better pans?
A The Swiss Diamond Induction cookware range is more expensive than the standard Swiss Diamond cookware, because it as an additional feature, not because it is a better pan.
Induction hobs work through the use of magnetism. The base of the cookware has to be magnetised in order for the induction hob to be activated. This is an energy efficient way of cooking as the hob automatically switches off when the pan is removed.
The Swiss Diamond induction cookware is the same as the standard Swiss Diamond cookware in every way EXCEPT that an additional magnetised crystal layer has been added to the base of the pan. That is why it is more expensive.
The induction range can be used on any hob type, but the manufacturers have found in tests, that if you expose the magnetised base to a very high heat source, such as on a gas hob, this can detrimentally affect the magnetised layer. This is not a problem except if you want to subsequently use the pan on an induction hob, when its performance could be reduced.
As I understand it, you do not have an induction hob, and therefore I would suggest that you just buy the standard Swiss Diamond cookware. There is no need for you the pay the extra!
