Calphalon One Non-Stick

Before You Cook

  • Wash your pan with a dishcloth and soapy, hot water
  • Do not try to season your pan - not required

Cooking With Calphalon One Non-stick Cookware

First Time of Use

  • The first time you use a Calphalon One non-stick pan, wipe the inside of the pan with a light coating of cooking oil.

Recommended Heat Settings for Stove top Cooking

  • Use medium-high heat for searing, sautéing, frying and stir-frying
  • Use low heat to warm foods, simmer or prepare delicate sauces
  • Use high heat for boiling and reducing liquids

Pre-Heating The Pan on the Stove top

  • Do not try to hurry pre-heating by using high heat
  • For searing, sautéing and pan frying, pre-heat the pan using the heat setting you intend to use when cooking before adding oil

Adding Butter or Oil

  • Use the "butter test" to find out whether your pan is hot enough for sautéing. Just wipe a bit of butter on the inside bottom of the pan. If it bubbles briskly without burning, your pan is perfectly pre-heated - if the butter browns, cool it down, wipe out the butter carefully and start again
  • With non-stick pans, you can use oil or fat for added crispness, colour or flavour. It is not necessary to use cooking oil in order to get easy food release.
  • Allow the oil to heat for a minute before adding food to the pan.
  • If you use aerosol sprays, we recommend that you spray the food, and not the pan. These sprays cause a residue to build-up that is difficult to remove from cookware.
  • If you want to keep cooking oil to a minimum, try using a mister filled with olive oil. Or alternatively, dab a bit of oil on a paper towel and carefully wipe the bottom of the pan.

to get the Best Food Release

  • Always start with a clean pan.
  • Wash pans carefully and be sure that you have removed all traces of cooking oil before you store it
  • Remove food from the refrigerator 10 minutes before you intend to cook it
  • Remember to pre-heat your pan and allow the oil to heat for a minute before you add food

Oven and Broiler (Grill) Use

  • Non-stick pans should not be used under the broiler
  • Calphalon One non-stick glass covers are safe to 450 degrees F, the cookware is safe to 500 degrees F
  • Handles will become very hot in the oven. Always use a potholder or mitt to prevent burns when removing pans from the oven.

Utensils

  • Use ONLY nylon or wood utensils in Calphalon One Non-stick
  • You should NOT cut or chop in the pan.

Clean Up

  • For everyday clean-up, use hot soapy water and a dish cloth.
  • For grease build-up on the INTERIOR non-stick surface, clean with a Dobie® pad and a nonabrasive cleaner such as Soft Scrub to remove any food residue.
  • To restore the EXTERIOR ONLY of your pans to "like-new" condition, wash with a green Scotch Brite® pad and Bar Keeper's Friend. Pay special attention to rinsing when you use Bar Keeper's Friend; without careful rinsing, the cleaner may occasionally leave a powdery soap film.
  • To clean glass covers, wash with a dish cloth or sponge and hot, sudsy water.

Remember, Put Safety First!

  • Calphalon One long handles are designed to remain cool during stovetop cooking
  • Cover and helper handles may become hot during prolonged cooking
  • Use caution when removing covers or lifting with helper handles.
  • Touch lightly to be sure the handles have not become hot. Use oven mitts or pot holders if necessary.
